Get in touch.

This site is run by one person. Email is the way to reach me, and I read everything that comes in.

I answer as quickly as I can. If something is time sensitive, say so in the subject line.

What to Send

Four reasons people write, and what helps most.

You do not need to fit into one of these. But if you do, including the details below saves us both a round of questions.

If your child was diagnosed with cancer

I want to hear from families whose child lived in Wichita Falls or the surrounding area and was diagnosed with cancer. Any type of cancer, and whether or not you think water or any other exposure had anything to do with it.

  • Roughly where you lived, and when
  • Your child's age and diagnosis
  • Whether I may contact you for more detail

If you worked on this, or know something about it

Engineers, plant operators, laboratory staff, consultants, current or former City employees, and regulators. If you were there, you know things the documents do not say.

  • What you saw, did, or remember
  • Any records you still have
  • Whether you want to be identified or not

If something here is wrong

Corrections are welcome and I would rather hear them from you than publish an error. Tell me what is wrong and, if you can, what the correct version is.

  • Which page, and which statement
  • What the record actually says
  • A source, if you have one

Corrections are logged publicly on the Methodology page with the date they were made.

If you are a reporter, researcher, or official

I will provide any document referenced on this site, including the underlying analytical results, agency correspondence, public information responses and published research.

  • What you are working on
  • Which records you need
  • Your deadline, if you have one
What Happens to What You Send

Nothing about you gets published without your permission.

That applies to every message, from every kind of sender. If you are not sure what you are comfortable sharing, send what you are sure about and we can talk about the rest.

Names

No child is named on this site without their family's permission. No adult is named without theirs.

Addresses

Home addresses of private individuals are never published, including approximate ones that could identify a household.

Medical information

Private medical information is not published. Nothing from a medical record goes on this site without the family's consent.

Anonymity

If you want to tell me something without being identified, say so and I will treat it that way. I will not quote you or describe you in a way that identifies you.

The full publication standard is set out on the Methodology and Sources page.

What I Cannot Do

Being straight about the limits.

I am not a doctor, a lawyer, or a scientist.

I cannot give medical advice, legal advice, or a scientific opinion about your health or your family's. If you have health concerns, those belong with your physician.

I do not represent anyone, I am not affiliated with any organization, and I am not collecting information for a lawsuit or on anyone's behalf. This site is independently operated and I pay for it myself.

What I can do is preserve records, document what people tell me with their permission, and put the material in front of people who are qualified to evaluate it.

One More Thing

If you only do one thing, sign the petition.

The request is narrow: test Wichita Falls drinking water for NDMA now, using EPA Method 521, and publish the results. It costs you a minute and it does not require agreeing with anything else on this site.

Most questions about sourcing, redaction and what does or does not get published are answered on the methodology page.
